Pearl’s rainsticks are known for their beauty and sound, for their select tone woods and their artistic designs. This one is a 24 in. bamboo model whose exterior bears a hand-burned composition that represents the life cycle of water. The design, called Rhythm Water, was selected for its reverent depiction of the essential nature of mankind’s most precious natural element.

It has a 2.5 in. diameter, which gives it a complex and enchanting resonance, and works by a maze of tines that react with a gentle, but crisp rhythmic tone as a cascade of small lava pebbles flow over them. The effect is often described as resembling a gentle steady rainfall.

This rainstick is also effective as a large stage shaker, besides its more common use as a ceremonial or percussion effect. It is present in a live environment, and has a sufficiently complex timbre to be effective in the studio.
