About This Listing

This NE Plus Ultra cornet, serial #18758, was manufactured by Boston Musical Instrument Company. It is a Boston 3 Star instrument. Boston was founded in 1869 and became a premier American instrument maker during the late 1800s. This is a three star that was made between 1908-1909. It has a one piece receiver for the mouthpiece. The design on the slide linkeages is signature for Boston instruments. This horn also has double key split. There are signs of wear: a dent in the bell, multiple dents in the crook as well as some solder work that was done on the low end of the crook.
Our resident trumpet teacher was able to play through all registers. It is a little stuffy, and the long mouthpiece receiver length causes notes to flatten about a quarter of a step.
This is certainly a cool piece of American history, and if even if it's not your main player, is a horn worth adding to your collection! Sold as-is from Tom's Guitars in Medford, Oregon.
