Holy smokes! What happens when you combine the legendary craftsmanship of Lowden Guitars and Master Grade Sinker Redwood and Brazilian rosewood tonewoods? Exactly what you'd expect- a fantastic sounding and playing guitar that straddles the line between an instrument and functional art.
This premium 2018 S-50 has premium features all around. The heart and soul of this instrument are the Master Grade tone woods involved: a wonderfully straight grained Sinker Redwood top and beautiful Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Flame maple binding adorns the body and a beveled maple arm rest adds an additional level of comfort to the guitar. The 5 piece mahogany and rosewood neck features Lowden's comfortable GL Standard neck profile and the ebony fretboard is adorned with Lowden's Leaf abalone inlays and ebony/maple binding. The purflings on the body are constructed with rosewood, maple, and mahogany and the soundhole is appointed with an Hawaiian Koa and abalone edge rosette. A top loading rosewood bridge with a split saddle compliments the redwood top. The headstock sports ebony overlays on the top and back while gold Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons keep everything in tune.
The scale length is 650mm (~ 25.6 inches) and the nut width is 45mm (~ 1.77 inches). We have it strung up with D'addario XS light gauge phosphor bronze strings with nice, low action. It's in overall excellent condition with only very minor pick marks on the clear pickguard and surrounding area. There are no noticeable dings, dents, or scratches besides one tiny scratch near the B string tuner. It includes the original premium hardshell case and Provenance booklet.
