About This Listing

Vintage Kay or Teisco EP-93T
Hollowbody Guitar

  • 1960s
  • True Hollowbody
  • Bigsby-Style Tremolo and Roller Bridge
  • Even though this guitar is missing its brand nameplate, I'm almost certain that it originally had a Kay nameplate. My reasoning is as follows: I've seen identical guitars of this model under both the Kay and the Teisco nameplate, however the ones labeled Teisco have had a narrow horizontal/straight nameplate, while the ones labeled Kay have been a larger circular plate. The holes that held the nameplate in place on the headstock of this guitar are clearly offset/diagonal, so they appear to match up with the circular Kay nameplates I've seen rather than the straight flat Teisco nameplates.
  • All-original, except probably for the tuners, which were clearly replaced at some point bc you can see the holes that have been filled in on the rear of the headstock; the tuners currently installed on it though are definitely from the same era, so it is possible that these are in fact the originals and a previous owner simply replaced them to modern ones only to reinstall the originals later on...but for all intents and purposes you should assume these are simply accurate-era replacement tuners.
  • It's just been restrung with .011s & had a complete professional set-up: frets polished, fretboard cleaned & oiled, truss rod adjusted, bridge & pickup heights adjusted, all electronics spray cleaned, etc.
  • Functionally it's in perfect condition--it plays, feels, & sounds great; all electronics work perfectly & quietly (which is especially surprising for these old vintage slider switches).
  • The "Tone" slider works counter-intuitively, with 0 being treble and 10 being bass (or treble-cut), which is why I have it set at 0 in the photos, bc that corresponds to what would normally be 10 on most other guitar tone knobs.
  • The frets show surprisingly little to no wear (see close-up photos).
  • See photos for cosmetic condition--it has plenty of normal signs of age, all of which can be seen in the photos.

I'm happy to ship to any international location, so if you are buying from outside of the contiguous United States, just contact me for a shipping estimate to your location. :)

Please look carefully at all of the photos and feel free to contact me with any questions before buying.  In addition to my 100% 5-star feedback rating here on reverb.com, I also have a 20+ year, 100% positive feedback rating on eBay (from well over 1000 ratings--user name "scedro").

Note:
The set-up on any guitar is subjective & a matter of personal taste, which of course varies for every player. While each instrument I sell is professionally set-up prior to being listed on Reverb, that set-up may not be exactly to your particular taste "right out of the box" & (as with any instrument that you buy anywhere) you should expect to possibly make adjustments to the action, string gauges, etc. to suit your exact tastes.
