This thing is freekin' awesome and really quite special. Some call it a "thumper seat" or a "rumble seat" but whatever you call it, if you're a professional or serious drummer it's a fantastic experience that actually enhances your playing because you feel the kick more – getting a more responsive experience which actually helps you play tighter. Plus it's so cool to play a kick and not just hear it but really feeeel it. Not to mention the plush throne top is suuuuper comfy.
This works via either a trigger/mic from the kick, or as a send from a mixing/monitor board. The seat vibrates every time you hit the kick drum, for another way of feeling and monitoring bass frequencies in a live setting. It's great for enhancing both live and recording situations, and really shines on gigs where the low end is lacking (a festival without much time to check, a small club without a sub monitor for drums, an ears-only tour, studio recording, etc). Monitoring low end in this way can be a lifesaver and a game changer in many situations... Not for everyone, but many absolutely love the BC Gigster and consider it a must-have in their setup. I actually have only used this for a few shows. I purchased it in anticipation for a tour, especially knowing that we'd be playing a small club circuit where sometimes you don't get proper monitoring or sub systems. It's seriously night and day playing a kick that you can't really hear on stage with all the other instruments going, vs. playing a kick where you can literally feel it under you. Maybe I'm crazy but it's like the best meal ever or great sex lol. Just feels so good.
However shortly after purchasing this directly from the manufacturer in the UK, my band broke up before the tour and then the pandemic happened. I only really got to use it a handful of times and it's been absolutely babied. It pains me to sell it because it would be cool for studio recordings, but truth be told I don't do much session work and I live in a small apartment with limited power outlets, so I can't even really use it sadly.
I'd rather see it off to a good home and when the time is right for me, I'll surely get this again because it's so cool!
