A very different beast than the 19" Chinese, the Sabian 20” Paragon Chinese is still very much a traditional model in its design and sound. It's Medium-weight, with a small bell, short, steeply angled bow, and a small, flanged lip with oriental style swish-hammering for a drier, harder sound. The response of this cymbal is not as open as the 19" Chinese, and it doesn't get carried away as easily. It's a more direct sounding model, drier and harder, created to give Neil Peart a contrast between his two China cymbals. Handcrafted from pure Sabian B20 bronze, Paragon cymbals offer subtle looks and powerful, dynamic sounds. Created using AA-style hammering and an innovative mix of sound-defining features from the AA, AAX, and HH series, Paragon defines a new, closer relationship between power and musicality in cymbals that are dynamically responsive, highly durable, and effective in a wide range of applications.
The Sabian 20" Paragon Chinese is an assault of an effect, combining high-decibel response and focused character for a cymbal that can't help but be heard. Manufactured with B20 bronze and AAX-style lathing, this 20" rendition shares the same thin weight through the bow as its 19" counterpart, but sports a smaller-flanged lip for a more controllable presence. Made to provide big, staccato attack, the more measured character provides ample opportunity to use this as a crash or even a ride if played on the bow.
