Vintage Marantz 2220b Stereo Receiver Beautiful!!

What a bummer!!! This is one of the nicest 2220b’s I’ve had in quite a while…actually…it’s also the ONLY 2220b
I’ve had in quite a while!! If you’re looking, you probably know that the market for these little beauties is absolutely crazy!! Prices for “project” units have been as high as $350-$400.00!!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s a reason these little wonders command that kind of money, so it’s somewhat rare when something more than a basket case pops up that’s affordable!

The one and only reason I was able to buy this all original, really well cared for 2220b is because the previous owner kid decided to make the receiver look “cool” and put a sticker on the side, (at least it wasn’t the face)!!!
Didn’t bother them at the time, but when they went to sell it, it appears the glue became somewhat permanent…they scrubbed until the vinyl lost color…instead of pulling up, they tried to “color it”…😬😦!!

But that’s the ONLY thing wrong with this receiver!! I went through and gave her the light tune up…cleaned and inspected the boards, lubed the tuning system and inspected the string, changed lamps to warm white LED’s , pointer with a original replacement lamp. Shot all controls, inputs and outputs with Deoxit, and then polished and detailed her. As mentioned, besides a little chassis staining, everything but the cover shows like new!!

Personally, I would recommend the new owner look for a WC-22 walnut case and use the receiver for a while…then take it in and get a recap done…it’s reasonable on a 2220b and we’ll worth the expense on a unit this nice! Once done you will have a heirloom piece that will last another 50 years!!!
