Vintage 1963 Gibson J-45 with new Gator hardshell. Beautiful, round-shouldered dreadnought-style flat-top body, Sitka spruce top with cherry sunburst finish. Large tortoiseshell grain plastic pickguard, multi-ply white & black soundhole rosette, “reverse belly style” plastic bridge with adjustable-height saddle. One-piece mahogany neck with adjustable truss-rod, classic “open book shape” peghead, silk-screened gold-color Gibson peghead logo, nickel-plated “single line” Kluson Deluxe three-on-a-strip tuners with white plastic buttons, single-ply black plastic bell-shaped truss-rod cover, 20-fret Brazilian rosewood fingerboard (e.g., 14 frets clear of the body) with pearloid dot inlays, multi-ply white & black edge binding on body top and single-ply white edge binding on body back. Truss rod turns and works properly. The bridge is the original plastic and there is a hairline crack at the bass-side height adjustment post. There is noticeable belly swell which will probably need to be fixed. A new bridge could be put in its place at that point. We have had several questions about the neck as to whether it had ever been reset. The neck looks original and does not show any repairs. A metal strap button was added at some point to the center of the heel. The frets are not original and are in really good shape with little wear. They are probably considered medium-jumbo in size. All in all, with the exception of the metal strap button and refretting, this one is in original condition.
