About This Listing

Building on the success of the 124, the EMT-designed TD-125 carried the Thorens banner through the seventies, and is widely regarded as Germany’s finest domestic turntables from the Golden Age. Built to last, simply styled, and immediately recognizable, it's no surprise the TD-125 remains at the top of collectors' lists. This beautiful widebody example has been serviced from top to bottom - literally. Fitted with the highly regarded Bokrand tonearm, atop a custom plinth in figured eucalyptus, you would be hard-pressed to find such a nice example.

LINER NOTES

The "125" was a sort of 1960s German hotel furniture design, with brushed aluminum blending with straightgrain wood in an incredibly elegant design, in contrast to the "124," which had the overall appearance and finish of a classic Swiss medical machine. The front panel's three laterally-sliding switches—three for the machines supplied without a stock Thorens arm and, thus, without a "factory" arm lift—remain a defining feature of that type, which also included the added convenience of a hinged, spring-supported, premium Perspex cover.
