ITEM:

Here’s a nice 1968 Vintage Thunderbass by Guild 45 Watt All Tube Bass Amplifier Head in black Tolex & in very good overall condition. SN # 7152, manufactured in Hoboken, NJ.

Due to the weight & fragile nature of this piece of vintage electronic equipment (after all, she's 55 years old), we will not be able to ship this amp head. This is being priced & offered for local pick up only. If that is an impossible task for you, please contact us & we might be able to accommodate you.

DESCRIPTION & A LITTLE HISTORY:

A very serviceable 2 channel bass amp head with Master Volume control. Guild not only built guitars, but they branched out into amplifier design & production probably in order to compete with Fender, Gibson, Harmony, Gretsch, etc in order to fully compete with their competitors in the marketplace.

Guild began producing amps in 1952 in NYC, NY, and moved operations to Hoboken, NJ in 1956. After Avnet purchased the company in 1966, they began production of the "Thunder" line of guitar amps. In 1969, Avnet moved the entire Guild Corporation to Westerly, RI. Essentially, most amplifier production ceased in 1969. This specific head was a portion of that "Thunder" line of products.

**Thanks to THE BLUE BOOK OF GUITAR AMPLIFIERS, edited by Ryan Triggs, published by SP Fjestad, and previously authored by Zachary R. Fjestad.**

CONDITION & SPECIFICATIONS:

This head is in overall very good condition, both cosmetically & sonically. There is some evidence of play wear including some smudge marks, very tiny tolex loss, & oxidation on the front panel. Sonically she sounds & performs as she should. Repairs performed by our amp tech include replacement of all of the power supply capacitors, all pots & switches were fully cleaned, biased the power tubes, & replaced the power cable & plug with a grounded unit. Both of the transformers are original, and we're fairly certain that all of the pre amp, power tubes & rectifier are original as well. The back panel, unfortunately, is long gone. There is also 1 mounting bolt missing on the bottom for the chassis ( one out of 6 isn't too bad).
