About This Listing

This is a fantastic 1985 Hondo Fame 760H/12 12-string in Deep Metallic Aqua. It chimes and it roars and the tuning is super stable. One of the biggest gripes from my band mates was "how long we'd have to wait between songs while YOU tune!", and that was never the case!

I had work done on it. The humbuckers, honestly sound amazing, so I kept those, but I removed the tone knobs, as I always have everything opened up anyway, and use my playing style, the volume knob and some pedals to create character. I took the three way switch out of the way of my strumming hand (And I'm a STRUMMER!), and placed it where I could easily reach it, along with my volume, mid song. The middle setting is so, so pretty - the chime is something else and feels like a single coil, without losing the power of the humbuckers. All the wiring was upgraded also.

To house all my changes, we cut a brand new, tortoiseshell pickguard.

I still have the original harness and pickguard, if you want them.

Currently it is set up for DADgad with 10's, with only the "drone strings" strung up. Everything is there for you to string it up normally and tune it normally, and outside of any minor tweaks so that the guitar fits you, it's ready to go.

If you're interested, I played this through a Strymon Blue Sky, and boosted with a TC Electronics Spark Boost, all routed through a 15 watt, Fender Bluesbreaker, always with some crunch. It sounds thick, and present, and with only running the 9 strings, I was able to get good, clean, bluesy leads that scream just a touch with the boost. In the neck position, the guitar has authority for your intros and verses. Switching to the middle position cleaned up the signal, that I could get great stabs, and a little funk, before kicking it to the Bridge position and really lifting up those chorus sections. We're only a three piece band, so having all that width and dynamics really helps.

- Rare & awesome '80s 12-string- amazing player. Famously used by Sonic Youth
- Strat-shaped body, nice & comfortable familiar shape & feel.
- TOM & stopbar bridge setup- 6-saddle adjustment setup.
- Korean-made at the Samick factory

-Factory Stock humbuckers (That sound amazing!)
- Bolt-on neck, just-right Fender-y feel, rosewood board with MOP dots. Full 25.5" scale.
- Unique & memorable matching 12-string headstock- 6 tuners on a side.
- Some bumps & chips - mostly around the butt area on the back side. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.
