Based on the classic circuit by Karl Klomp, this glitch video mixer is my take on the "Dirty Mixer" with a few extras thrown in! Two composite video inputs and One composite video output via RCA style jacks on the back. Single Big-A** Knob for fading between the two video channels, smashing them together into a cascade of glitched out frames and flashing colors. Multiple push buttons that control burst and blackout effects while micro toggle switches (red) add extra modes to this analog glitch circuit.

** This is an unstable, desync-ed video circuit- the effects and colors are best viewed on a CRT monitor or after a Time Based Correction unit or Full Featured Video Mixer. You will experience some drop out at 12 O'Clock if you are not using an older CRT or TBC and the effects will change based on the equipment used in the signal chain **

Watch the Demo Video to see it in action! The demo was captured through this chain: VCR/DVD Player -> Glitch Video Mixer -> (Sima Titler on some clips) -> MX-50 -> Cheap Scaler -> Blackmagic 3G Recorder -> Mac Mini

I find it most useful when extracting cool still-frames or taking pictures of the screen for use in visual art projects/graphics. When capturing video, I tend to get the best results when the knob is near full rotation on either side. The red toggle switch engage an extra "Soft Focus" mode that fuzzes out your picture and sometimes warps the color. The green BURST buttons will override your output with the signal of which ever Input you have assigned to that side of the mixer- it is very useful for live performances when you want to create excitement or stop the glitch without blacking-out the picture! For INPUT 1 (Left, Red Switch) we have a special On-Off-On Toggle switch so you can blank the channel but still have access to the BURST button to let the clean signal override the entire output!

⭆ Passive Circuit, No Power or Batteries Required
⭆ 1 Big Knob, 3 Toggle Switches, 3 Momentary Push Buttons

⭆ 2 Toggle Switches to Choose Channel Assignments: IN1 has an On-Off-On switch and IN2 has an On-On switch

⭆ 2 In, 1 Out - RCA Jacks
⭆ Composite Signals Only (VCR, DVD, Video Camera, Old Game Console, etc.. Yellow is usually the Video Signal)
⭆ Plastic ABS Enclosure (Black)
⭆ Rubber Feet on the Bottom

This device is based on an experimental circuit (the Karl Klomp "Dirty Mixer") that is widely circulated in the DIY community. It is unstable by "design" and is meant for experimental art and effects. It is a good entry point into the world of "analog" glitch effects and video art- if you want more information, send us a DM on instagram
