About This Listing

Really fun, fully upgraded '64 Jazzmaster with spectacular playability. Definitely the the best playing vintage Jazzmaster on Reverb right now. Upgraded with drop in locking vintage style Gotoh Magnum Tuners, a legendary Descendant Tremolo with an augmented string break angle, a top of the line Mastery Bridge, and a Rothstein loaded pickguard with Curtis Novak JM WRs.

I believe the Candy Apple Red is a refin, it's quite striking, and very well done. All the body cavities are original and there are no extra routes. Cavity shields are original as well.

No extra routes or drill holes on the neck or headstock either, which is super rare: usually by the time a neck reaches 60+ years old you can expect to see a lot of extra drill holes around the tuners. Just the original 7 Kluson tuner holes, and the authenticity guaranteeing 8th jig hole used by Fender during their Pre-CBS era, and the extra finishing hole on the base of the neck. The decal on the neck was changed to a Stratocaster, but the 4 APR 64 B neck stamping confirms that it's a Jazzmaster neck. Many players and luthiers are of the opinion that a the 4APR 64 B is the best neck profile that you can get. This particular Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is absolutely gorgeous. See pics for details, the frets are in great shape too! Neckplate serial matches 1964 as well, but I have a couple numbers blacked out (at Reverb's recommendation).

The truss is responsive, right now the guitar is set up for 10s, and the intonation is true. The action is great, nice & low, but no fretting-out on bends, and no buzzing anywhere on the neck. The instrument is a pleasure to play, and the tone a pleasure to listen to. All of the electronics work as they should, and the tone range is 100% vintage Jazzmaster: from 60's Surf to 90's Grunge. Really an amazing guitar. Ready to go for the next venue, gig, or studio!

Comes with a very robust Mono M80 Electric Guitar Case, as pictured.

Product Overview
Fender announced the Jazzmaster at the 1958 NAMM show as a high-end jazz guitar with an array of innovative features and sleek sports-car inspired curves. Though the model never really caught on with jazz players, it was quickly embraced by surf rock players due to its unique floating tremolo system and mellower sounding pickups. Later, the Jazzmaster would find new life as an iconic instrument for a range of indie rock players.
