I originally bought this a few years back, having been told it was an original 1980's TS9. 

The buyer conveniently disappeared after I received the pedal. 

Luckily it was sold at a great price, but I am, nonetheless, just trying to recoup some of the cost.


Needless to say, these first era reissues are still excellent. 


Due to the continuing popularity the original Tube Screamer, Ibanez began reproducing them around 1990. 

Early TS9 re-issues like this one were difficult to distinguish from the later original TS9's as they featured the same silver label, six digit serial numbers, Maxon circuit board and Toshiba TA75558 chips. Original TS9's used either TA75558 (exactly like THIS one), JRC 4558 or JRC2043D chips.

This TS9 is dated to early 1996 by it's capacitors and by the TA75558 chip, itself.

It's in 100% working order and the sounds absolutely wonderful. 

There are some small scuff and paint chips and the knobs have been changed. 

There is only a very slight difference between this re-issue and the original Maxon made OD9/TS9, but a large price difference.
This pedal covers that middle ground between expensive vintage and brand new options, and is in itself a vintage item of approximately 30 years.
