About This Listing

The Fano Alt de Facto SP6 is a vintage-inspired electric guitar that combines the best features of classic models with modern craftsmanship and custom pickups. Each SP6 is hand-built by one builder in Scottsdale, AZ, using premium tone woods and aged hardware.   This one was spec'ed out together by the head of Truetone and the head of Fano, collaborating to create some guitars that hadn't been done before.  This SP6 features Mahogany body, set neck, Lollar pickups and a special "Driftwood Burst" finish.  It's truly unique, as it's the only one ever made like it.

The Fano SP6 combines the body shape and typical neck profile of a “Junior” with the electronics, and layout of a classic “String-Through” solid body. Creating a guitar which covers familiar territories, as well as many in-between tones that neither guitar could do traditionally.  Typically the SP6 is a bolt-on neck but this one is special: it's a set neck, rarely seen on an SP6.

The neck shape on the Mahogany neck is a Late 50's Roundback (.860 - .970", with Rosewood fretboard that has a 10 - 16" compound radius.  That, along withe the 6105 (narrow tall) frets, ensures comfort, playability and the ability to bend without fretting out.  The wear is perfect, and provides a nice, broken in feel.  Also, by the way, this one is super light, weighing in at just 7.2 lbs.

We also chose a special set of pickups.  Here's what they are:

For the neck position, it's a Lollar P90, which is one of the most versatile single coil pickups made.  It's designed to sound like the original vintage pickups, but with materials that will last the test of time.  The P90 bobbins are made by Lollar in their shop.  It's a P90 giving warm, full tone with the clarity and articulation found with larger single coils from the late '50's.  You get a balanced output between positions and an expressive dynamic range.

For the bridge position, it's a Lollar '57 "T" Style single coil, providing that sweet vintage sparkle and twang.  Wound to Lollar's exacting specs, this gives you a clear and bright tone with a distinct round bottom end when played with a soft attack. It produces a full, fat rock tone when used with an AC 30 or a tweed amp, and the definition holds together nicely with heavier amp distortion. Features a flat-pole design with Alnico 2 magnets, wax potted coils, and vintage style cloth covered lead wire.

That's not all that's special: this finish is out of this world.  Called "Driftwood Burst", it takes Driftwood, which is a super cool finish we've done on a few Fano instruments, combined with Silverburst, another interesting color that will be familiar to a lot of guitarists.  The end result is like nothing else we've seen before.

All of this is what makes working with Fano so much fun, and why we love doing our own Alt de Facto creations.  And, we always know that they're going to kill it every time!
