Description
1989 Martin J40M
The Good:
All tuning machines intact and gold finish is intact
Bone saddle and nut
Neck binding and inlay are in beautiful condition
Face has crazing but no cracking
Ebony arm rest
Hardcase is in fantastic shape
Back shows wear but no cracking
The Bad:
Not original case
Scuffing on body from case
Bridge pins show signs of tooling (from improper removal)
Fret wear is only strings 1 & 2, moderate wear on frets 1-3
Impact damage on lower bout (pictured) but has not opened and is not "moving"
The Ugly:
BINDING, BINDING, BINDING...
The binding on the back is the serious portion of this instrument.
The pictures of the binding are an accurate representation of the damage to this guitar and the most concerning part of this potential purchase.
Toward the neck on the back the binding has separated due to mal humidity and I instructed the owner to cease repair, being how their weapon of choice for their first attempt was super glue. WITH THAT being said, the super glue was used on the "waist" on the treble side of the back of the instrument. It is pictured and the use was not catastrophic but I did inform my customer that the price will be affected.
There it is! I started her high so let the offers roll in!
Hope you enjoy!
