About This Listing

Sultan Series combine the brilliance of classic, lathed Traditional Series and the dryness of raw, unlathed Turk Series. The varied playing surfaces provide a wide range of sonic textures. Crashes produce slightly mellowed tone with controlled spread and quick decay. Rides express themselves with full-bodied responses, strong definition and ample but controlled overtones, open up slightly before rolling back into tight, sweet articulated sticking patterns. Hats offer a dark chick sound with a well-contained stick response.

Istanbul Agop cymbals have ONE year warranty against manufacturing flaws, starting from date of the purchase made from Cymbal House which is the authorized dealer of Istanbul Agop.

Product Overview
Operating in its current incarnation since 2004 after creating a headquarters in the United States, Istanbul Agop is one of the cymbal industry's leaders in crafting traditional Turksih cymbals. The company was founded by and named after Agop Tomurcuk, who spent decades in Turkey's sole cymbal foundry learning the craft before creating his own company.

Designed to be striking in both appearance and sound, the Sultan series incorporates concentric lathed and un-lathed rings through the bow with a raw bell for emphasized projection and attack.

Thinner through the bow and more gradual in the bell than the standard Sultan Ride, the Jazz Ride features a lower fundamental pitch, trashier wash, and warmer sticking.
Years of production: ca. 2000-present

Tonal profile: bright, full, washy

Notable features: lathed and un-lathed bow, raw hammered bell

Associated artists: Brian Collier, Joe Russo, Frank Briggs
