The Martin Standard D-18, an American classic was introduced in 1931, and is the original 14-fret Martin dreadnought. With its understated looks, the D-18 produces a timeless tone that is loud, with bright trebles, and strong, moderate bass, which makes it ideal for both recording and stage work. The warm tone of mahogany and authentic Sitka spruce, coupled with resonant scalloped bracing under the hood, is a sound that's honest, authoritative, and clear. That fantastic and familiar sound of solid Tropical mahogany and solid spruce, encased in a powerful dreadnought body, is certainly hard to beat. Vintage details like open-geared tuners and classic 18-style appointments pair with a modern, low profile neck for an old-soul sound in a brand-new body.
