Carver M1.5T 1250 watt 1200 watt power amplifier. TESTED!

We are one of the only facilities in the Pacific NorthWest that buys, sells and restores reel to reel tape decks. We have over 35 years experience working on these units, and have the tools and test equipment to properly align and bring these decks to life.

This is the Carver M-1.5T home version (non rack mount) of the PM-1.5T. The home version eliminated the fans that the pro version had, as well as the XLR inputs, however the basic amp and power supply is the same as the pro unit.
We got this unit in on a barter deal with Innovative Audio locally in Surrey BC that we do a lot of horsetrading with. We received in two of these amps, the second one will go on the bench in the next few weeks. When we got this unit, someone had removed the front panel, and had painted it black as shown. The handles were also installed on the back of the front panel for whatever reason. We put them back on in the normal fashion as per the pictures.
This amp was working fine when we got it. We popped the cover and checked the DC offset, the DC supply rails, and the bias. All were well within spec, and all power rails were balanced, indicating that the filter caps on each rail were in good shape.
It appears that this amp didn't get a lot of use, as both channels measured over 500 watts each at 8 ohm, at 0.03% THD. If you check the specs on the amp, it's rated at 350 watts/channel into 8 ohms, however if each channel is driven individually, the power supply will indeed provide more voltage and power per channel, so the specs are within spec.
As with any Carver high power amp, you need to supply a solid 15 amp circuit independently to the amp, if you plan on driving them hard. It's very difficult to clip these amps in a home stereo situation, and it has headroom for days. But.. plug 20 things into the same outlet as the amp, along with a coffee maker, and the power supply will run out of steam due to low power being supplied to the amp, and it will clip, and take out speakers. Read the Carver manual, it will tell you the same thing.

We ran this amp for 12 hours, listening to it in our shop for a day and a half, and it's good to go. The only VERY minor quibble is that the right standby LED on the power meter is slightly less bright than the left one, however we opted not to change it out, as it's such a small deal.

The case is in decent shape, there's some small scratches as shown, and we've touched up some of the marks with a black Sharpie, that works really well for touchup.

The amp will be well packed, with lots of bubble wrap, and will be fully insured as well. Shipping down the West Coast will be less than quoted, and any excess will be refunded upon shipping.
