Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a vintage 1979 Electro Voice model RE16 dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an E.V model mic clip, cable and vintage mic case in which to store the contents. This rugged classic microphone was made by E.V in the U.S.A starting in the early 1970's and I believe is still being made today.

The earlier RE16 microphones had the built in drop off switches to control the sound of your mic depending on the users needs. The newer generation of RE16 mics starting around the 1990's did away with the switch which is too bad really as they do come in handy.

Pic # 2 is from an older Re16 data sheet I have showing this mics basic specs.

The DS-35 is another E.V model mic that looks identical to the RE16.

I have been told by several musicians who have used both the RE-16 and DS-35 that they actually prefer the sound of the DS-35 better. I believe the DS-35 has a flatter response than the RE-16. The DS-35 is a great mic for toms / drums as where the RE16 is much better for singing and broadcasting purposes.

Apparently the RE15 and RE16 are identical in sound except that the RE16 has the larger exterior pop filter screen. Same frequency response.  This is the only RE16 I have had to offer in over 3 years.
The RE16 is a very high quality studio mic and was quite expensive in its day using the best materials and having the highest of quality control. The modern day mics just don't have the same build or tone as these mics from the 1970's and 80's.

The E.V RE16 is a light weight microphone set at 150 OHMS (Medium to Low impedance) and it has a smooth, warm tone.

It's also uni-directional picking up only your voice directly in front of the screen and cancelling out unwanted background noise.

As you can see the mic is exceptionally nice. The chrome screens are very nice with no dents, odors or tarnish. The painted body shows virtually no wear. Zero dents, scratches or fractures and the E.V label looks excellent and completely legible.

The bass drop off switch seen in pic # 13 works just as it should giving you more or less bass depending on where the lever sits.

It should be noted that this mic has the new upper and lower inner liners. These inner foam screens greatly help with the acoustics of the mic as well as keeping the lower screen steady.   The foam is in great shape and will last for several decades to come. The foam / pop filter cuts down any unwanted feedback due to wind or breathing.

If you buy a used RE16 model mic you'll want to make sure the inner foam pop filters are replaced professionally. The XLR pins were also cleaned which is very important to ensure that your cable provides a perfect signal once attached to the mic.

The mic measures 7 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 wide at the screen. Very light and versatile.

I'd give the mic a solid 9 + physically on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is that sound it produces. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is included.   The cable is a shorter 13 feet long but in excellent physical and working condition. It's soft, pliable and has a standard male 1/4 inch end connector. The cable will be ideal if your audio equipment is close to where you're using the mic.
The Electro Voice 312 model mic clip is also included and it fits the mic firmly allowing for a wide range of tilt up and down. The clip will screw on to any microphone desk or floor stand. The clip has the adjustable tension via side screw. The clip is in very nice physical condition as well.  The vintage mic case / box is also included and it's in excellent condition. A great place to store your mic when not in use to keep the scratches and dings away. The case is made of aluminum with a nice brown vinyl exterior. The gorgeous case is appx 9 1/2 inches across X 7 inches deep X 3 inches tall. The two new foam pads will keep the mic safe and snug.   There is a locking mechanism as well to keep the lid securely shut. Handle allows you to carry this easily. A great package deal all around and you'll really appreciate the case to keep everything in. If you demand an excellent working RE16 to use frequently...this is your mic.   MICROPHONE STAND IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.
