Fender Telecaster Custom 1970s Vintera MODIFIED
I am the second owner of this guitar and I bought it at Spacetone Music in San Antonio, TX about 3 years ago. What attracted me to the guitar was that it was already modified from the original single coil with humbucker design, to the “raw” single pickup design you see here. I upgraded the electronics to incorporate a Mason .047 cap and installed a Rio Grande ‘Dirty Harry’ Telecaster Bridge pickup. This pickup was recommended as it is voiced similar to a P-90. Some of the internal body wiring channels were filled with wood to ensure vibration transfer and it has greatly added more sustain and resonance.
This is a modified FenderTelecaster Custom 1970s Vintera, black in color with a flat black custom pick guard, now in a rare single pickup design, with P-90 style voicing, one volume and one tone knob- and both are vintage knobs. It has a Warmoth custom cut pick-guard, cut for this design. A Gotoh “In Tune” Bridge with notched brass saddles was installed which made a huge difference in tuning, tone, and stability. It also has black Kluson Tuners. “Blackie” as my girlfriend named her, has been an excellent performing guitar for me ever since. Fender hard case included.
This tele is in excellent condition. It was not listed as Mint due to the modifications. There maybe some light scratches which I tried to capture in the photographs. The frets and nut are good and the guitar plays nice. I have included the Fender hard case I bought separately for her, which is in excellent condition, as this guitar would typically come with a gig bag. I will include a new set a strings, as these have been off and on, for her photoshoot>
Original Fender Description:
For players who want the style and sound of Fender's golden era, we created the Vintera® '70s Telecaster® Custom. Equipped with the coveted features that defined the decade - including period-accurate neck profile and playing feel, along with re-voiced pickups - this guitar has all of the articulation and punch that made the Telecaster a legend.
We recreated the pickups to sound more like the '70s originals. By combining the vintage-style single-coil bridge pickup with a fat-sounding Wide Range humbucking neck pickup we added some beef to the traditional Tele® bite. The "Thin C"-shaped neck has a 7.25"-radius fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets for classic feel. A vintage-style Tele® bridge with three steel barrel saddles gives this Telecaster its characteristic twang.
