The Kit:

Fitted with a 34mm gold plated capsule from the factory, the design offers a nice compliment of patterns at the turn of the dial and stock is a great value in and of itself as it is one of the only proper negative feedback designs on the market based on the classic 251 mic.

This usually results in a poky sibilant sound from the factory and is often described as a "Cheap Chinese" condenser sound. This design, being designed correctly is Warm and very musical.

Stock they use a basic Chinese tube and a few cost cutting measures in electrolytic capacitors as is common with low cost import clones, this is where Revive Audio comes into the equation.

The Modifications:

We start by pulling the caps out of the microphone preamp and installing low noise, esr Panasonic capacitors and then install a Genalex Gold Lion tube for the preamp for low distortion, excellent headroom and low noise.

The power supply is then dissembled and low noise Caps (some value adjustments) are installed for the heater rail and the B+ rail for longevity, ideal current delivery and finally bypassing is performed in key locations to reduce the amount of noise in the mic and DC rails.

The results are excellent where the mic sounds handily twice as expensive as the investment.
