Various Clarinet Mouthpieces ~106 tip 2000’s - Hard rubber

There are 5 mouthpieces in the photos. All approximately 106 tip opening. Left to right:

Yamaha 4C, standard student mouthpiece, $15

Vandoren 5RV $50, 5VR Profile 88 NFS , 5RV Profile 88 Series13 $75

(The 5RV is described by Vandoren as “The time proven standard for professional musicians. Quality and tradition.“ In this case the tip is 106.5. The Series 13 will come in its original box. )

Buffer A2B 106 $25. Standard perhaps supplied with the famous R13 clarinet.

The 5RV 88 in the middle is there for reference and is not for sale. It also has had the most use as my favorite of the bunch. Since I normally play flat the Series 13 did not do anything for me.

I have shown them next to each other so you can see the differenes. The Yamaha and the 5RV on the lift have a shorter rise to the lip plate. The other three have the longer rise. The longer rise lets you play the clarinet a bit more upright. The buffet has a bit more of a rounded top and is a bit shorter. The Profile 88 is the longer lip profile, the Series 13 is made for 440 instead.

The second photo shows the facing and the table. There are some scratches on the inside of the tip on the Buffet and the Yamaha that do not affect anything. Not sure why they are there. Perhaps from a tool rod inserted from the other end. The corks are all very good.
