We have just received a used Martin D-18 made in 2009.
Unlike the current version, this one is before the major specification change in 2012.
The spruce and mahogany body has a soft sound, but this one has a sparkling hearty raw sound due to the non-scalloped bracing.
The entire body vibrates well and the volume is firm.
Needless to say, it is a perfect match for fingerpicking, but it also produces a sparkling sound on stroke playing.
The bridge saddle is made of cow bone and appears to have been replaced. The saddle is high enough to maintain proper tension, and the string height at the 12th fret of the 6th string is approximately 2.8mm.
In addition to scratches and numerous dents, there are weather checks on the lacquer paint due to age. A strap pin has been added at the neck joint.
The weather checks are not so visible from the front, but if you shine a light on it from an angle, you can see them. The weather checks are not so visible from the front, but when viewed from an angle, they are visible.
A genuine hard case is included.
