2001 Griffin Grand Concert acoustic guitar w/ohsc #GC60027
Kim Griffin is an upstate (lower Adirondack region) NY luthier who has been building guitars since 1976. This fine example is consigned to Kovacik Guitars by the original owner. The guitar is Griffin's "Grand Concert" model, which is a 000 (15" lower bout) body but with a full dreadnought body depth. The scale length is 25.4" and the nut width is 1 3/4". The back and sides are solid Indian rosewood while the top is super tight, fine grained spruce. The neck is mahogany with ebony head stock overlay, fret board and bridge. The "Griffin" name is inlaid in pearl script in the head stock. The body is bound in mahogany and the top dressed and rosetted with attractive multi-color wood purfling. The top has traditional Martin style scalloped X bracing in the forward-shifted position. The neck profile is a comfortable "C" shape. The finish is (I believe) a water base lacquer with a satin sheen. The neck is straight under tension, truss rod works properly. The action is very comfortable all around the neck and there's plenty of saddle showing to bring it down if desired. Can be finger picked comfortably or played with a flat pick without buzz or bottoming out. Has an assertive, bold voice that is balanced across the range. I have a sound file of this guitar available by email, if you'd like it let me know. Not a mark on the guitar anywhere, basically mint. Comes with the original hard case. $1950 + shipping. NYS residents add 8% sales tax. Shipping to US only, no international shipping offered. Note that the shipping rate is set to get the guitar from the east coast (where I am) to the west coast. If your actual shipping turns out to be significantly less I will refund the difference after our transaction is completed. Better yet, contact me with your address before you buy for a shipping quote to your location so you don't overpay. Thanks for your interest.
