About This Listing

Matthias Dammann 1994 "Double-Top" - exceptionally good sounding classical guitar that impresses on all levels.

The previous owner was the German guitarist Friedemann Wuttke (see picture), who played the guitar for several years and performed and recorded with it on numerous occasions.

Matthias Dammann, an outstanding German luthier and pioneer in the field of double-top guitars, devoted himself to extensive research into the acoustics of historical guitars. This included the guitars of Antonio de Torres.
He not only studied these instruments, but also patented his innovative new designs, which had a significant influence on the guitar landscape of the late 20th century. Dammann's "sandwich double tops" and later the Nomex double tops are remarkably light and give the guitars an immediate response, remarkable volume and marvellous playability.
Many renowned guitarists such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Andrew York, Scott Tennant, Pepe Romero and the Beijing Guitar Duo have used Matthias Dammann's guitars over a long period of time and recorded with them.

This is an extremely powerful "sandwich top" guitar from Matthias Dammann.
This particular design, based on the lightweight top, is very attractive to many top players looking for a guitar with instant response, improved volume and easy playability.
The guitar has a cedar top and rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 655 mm and the nut width is 53 mm.

The sound of the guitar is extremely powerful and room-filling. It requires little effort from the player to produce this powerful sound. The powerful trebles respond very quickly and project well, while the deep basses resonate throughout the guitar, making playing this guitar a real experience.
The guitar produces a tone that is both room-filling and warm, characterised by a dark timbre and excellent separation of the individual notes. The balance between bass and treble is even throughout, making this wonderful guitar a versatile instrument, suitable for a wide range of musical styles and techniques.
This is an extremely impressive example of Dammann at its best.

Although this guitar has been played professionally for many years, it has been well cared for. It has normal signs of play and wear in the varnish and 2 small cracks in the back which have been very professionally repaired.

The guitar comes in a very high-quality case from Paxman (made in England).
