Beautiful and unusual late 60s/early 70s Kingston Coronado copy. The original Rosewood has faded to a one-of-a-kind gray/purple. One-of-kind custom mod and ready to glisten and glide.
These vintage Japanese copies have a ton of mojo, but can be fickle to get stable and in good working order.
This guitar has been extensively modified and upgraded to play its best. It would be best described as a custom pawn shop style frankenstein. Modification includes attaching vintage Japanese comic scraps found inside the body as a decal to the back of the guitar.
Pickups have been swapped for 60s Zim-gar Japanese goldfoils. The pickups sound fantastic, incredible clarity and glassy cleans.
Additionally, the wiring has been replaced with CTS pots and orange drop caps. (Note, the wiring is BV, NV on the top BT, NT on bottom, unlike conventional LP style wiring) Original switch remains.
The guitar has been refretted with Fender slim tall jumbo fret and is playing beautiful, currently set up with 11-48 Flatwounds.
Other modification include new tuners, replacing components of the original vibrato with Fender American jazzmaster vibrato components. Tremolo works well. Will include an extra arm for low profile.
Original bridge replaced with a vintage tune-o-matic style bridge with a rosewood base. The bridge has been pinned to retain its position on the top.
The back of the neck has been sanded to a matte finish.
Besides the listed modification, the guitar is in good shape cosmetically. Some finish cracks by the heel, all attended to and stable.
Original black pickguard included.
