Classic Strat mojo! With an attractive brown sunburst and all black plastics, this one embodies the essence of a classic Fender. Being an ‘06, the customary “60th Anniversary” badge is present on the back of the headstock. Some Fender purists prefer these to the more recent Player Series, as they include the quintessential 6 screw tremolo and “vintage” frets. These guitars are quite comparable to the American Standards of the era playability wise.

This example presents expected period features; 9.5” fretboard radius, sealed tuners, vintage style trem w/bent steel saddles, and a C neck profile. This guitar was originally an SSS layout, being upgraded with a Seymour Duncan ‘59 (SH-1B) installed in the bridge at a later date. Bodies from this era were factory HHS routed, so no wood was removed from the body to accomplish this. The circuit has been modified to include a push-pull volume pot, adding the humbucker in with any other position (similar to factory American Pro II wiring). The pickup routes have been fully shielded with copper helping to eliminate RF interference. The humbucker adds some welcomed bite, with vintage PAF-ish tones on tap.

Cosmetically this guitar presents well considering it nearing 20 years of age, with a small ding on the top near the side edge of the pickguard. Some honest, well-earned wear is present on the fretboard finish, which in my opinion gives this guitar a nicely worn in vibe. Along with this is some strum wear on the pickguard - however overall this one looks very nice on a stand, with no ugly missing poly chips as commonly seen on these.

It has been detailed and setup with a fresh set of D’Addario XL 9.5-44s, yielding a nice low string height of around .055” at the 12th fret. Fretboard has been cleaned, and frets polished. The trussrod works as it should, and relief has been set to spec. It’s a speedy blues machine, ready to take on whatever you want to throw at it!
