About This Listing

1974 Martin D-18

This is a sweet one! The tone is excellent, and the playability is very smooth. For her age, she is in amazing condition. We did need to do a few things to get her back in top shape for you, but the updated condition is great. There was a crack along the back upper bout that was cleated and sealed as was a small separation in the lower center seam. Structurally all is now solid and ready for many more years. A new pickguard was installed as well since the old one was beginning to buckle up (as these older Martin’s often do). The aged mahogany sides and back resonate like only that time cured wood can do. The spruce top with it’s well earned checking allows for excellent projection. There are a few dings, a little buckle rash on the back, and a scratch here or there. But all in all, this is a fine player’s instrument. The D-18 is a true workhorse and this one has been broken-in well. The action is comfortable, the frets still have play and the bridge and saddle are in very good condition (no looseness of lifting). She comes in a newer hard case in excellent condition. If you are serious about regular playing on a legendary model Martin, this one fits the bill 100%.
