About This Listing

This 1976 Martin D28-S Slot headstock 12-fret Dreadnought is in excellent condition for the year. Presented for sale with hardly a mark and complete with its pristine original Martin hardshell case!

Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides with an Ebony fingerboard and Mahogany neck. 48mm (1 7/8") top nutwidth and 60mm (2 3/8") string spacing. 645mm (25 3/8") scale length. Slot headstock with Grover machine heads.

It will work well for fingerstyle players offering a great alternative for your "standard" fingerstyle models, but will also please the flat picker and strummer with its full rich vintage tone.

It features typical Martin 28-style specifications, and it is a great all-round acoustic guitar.

With no breaks cracks or repairs and, as mentioned, very few signs of use, a cared-for and treasured instrument.

It has a nice playing action, which we would describe as "medium" and there is plenty of life left in its nicely polished frets.

We are an appointment-only, store. All instruments are handled by Motomusic employees only.

We are always happy to consider quality part exchange instruments here.

Product Overview
Along with its Rosewood counterpart, the D-28, the Martin D-18 stands as one of the true original dreadnoughts introduced by Martin in 1932. The D-18 made a switch from a 12-fret to a 14-fret instrument in 1934 and has stayed largely the same since, with just the occasional change in wood source or cosmetic detail. The D-18S uses the original 12-fret above the body and slotted headstock design of the D-18.

Years of Production:
1967 - 1993

Body Style: Dreadnought

Wood Composition:  Mahogany back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, 1-piece mahogany neck
