Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece

Serial Number 196321

Carlsbad Era

Made c.1950's

Stamped 3*

Tip Opening .064"

Damaged Glued and Banded

Offered from my private collection. This is a Brilhart Tonalin 3* for Alto Saxophone in white with a black bite plate. Serial number 196321 in Arial font dates it to the Carlsbad period, probably mid 1950's. The actual tip opening is .064" or 1.72 mm. This mouthpiece came to me with a Super Balanced Action alto, since sold. The owner, recently deceased was a top New York studio musician and was playing this combination. It looks like this mouthpiece was cracked and glued many times. There's also a metal band which was glued on. After careful consideration I've decided not to attempt removing the band and fixing it better. It would be best to let a mouthpiece expert take it on as a project. The tip and rails are in excellent condition. A bit of tooth wear on the bite plate but not through the black. Nice big round chamber. This could be a phenomenal mouthpiece! These Tonalins are sought after by professionals worldwide. So i'm just putting this up for your consideration. Take a look. Maybe at this price you could end up with a great deal for a wonderful alto mouthpiece. I'm also including the ligature and cap shown.
