About This Listing

Up for grabs is a 1914 Holton brand "Revelation" silver cornet w/ non-original hard case and Holton #1 branded cornet mouthpiece included. Utilizing the information from Holton Loyalist and Adams Music, we were able to determine based on the serial number (31021) that this horn was made at some point between 1914 and 1915 (likely 1914).

Not a lot of information is found online regarding the Revelation Cornets and thus we can't speak to a whole lot of the specs of this horn. It has been serviced with our repair shop within the last few years where bell-valve braces were mended, the bell and lead-pipe were straightened as much as possible, accessible dents were removed, as well as having a rebuilt 2nd slide and main tuning compound slide. Other small parts were replaced such as waterkey springs and valve springs.

The technician's noted that a heavier oil may be beneficial for continued use of the instrument.

Although the above repairs have been done within the last few years, it is still recommended that a prospective buyer would speak to their local repair technician for quotes on regulation & adjustment and to potentially have additional repairs done that could not be accomplished in our area.

Dents are present in the lead pipe that were inaccessible, but these do not inhibit play. A separation in one of the slides is present but a ferrule was installed and the tubing was filed and sanded to fit in its intended space (see photo # 22) The mouthpiece included will work, but has heavy denting, plate wear, and the receiving end of the mouthpiece is quite worn and is included simply due to its pairing with the horn. Case was replaced due to original case being damaged beyond repair and wishing to keep instrument well protected during shipment.

Would make for a great collectible vintage horn, a project, or a playable vintage cornet for a player.

Thanks for stopping by the Boneyard!
