Amazing-sounding sampler / sequencer with deep functionality.
All buttons and pads working. The large screen and overall interface makes for a much more enjoyable UI vs other MPCs I've had. I loved my 1k & 2kxl but found the UI tough going at times.
OS 1.60
Tonnes of samples pre-loaded.
The sound engine from the 4000 is incredible. When I track beats and other sounds to my DAW from the 4k, the sketch always sounds like it needs very little further processing. Obviously some of that is down to sample selection etc but there is definitely something superior about the sound engine vs the 1000 / 2000xl / 2500. Incredible punch and presence.
Can be the centre-piece of your hardware / hybrid set up with myriad functions and connectivity.
Two small issues (that don't affect the machine's performance):
1.The screen is perfect but the screen holder is slightly broken. It works fine if you want to use the first level of 'tilt' (or leave flat) but if you want the screen fully vertical you'll need to stick something behind it (see pic). It never bothered me to be honest.
2. When you turn the MPC on, there is an error msg (see pic). You click cancel and the OS loads perfectly. I've no idea why it comes up or how to get rid of it. I've had the machine for about 10 yrs and it's always done this but has never had any bearing on the performance of the machine. Click 'cancel' and away you go. Maybe a fresh OS upgrade would make it disappear but I've never felt the need.
Reason for selling: I no longer have the time!
Overall an incredibly well built machine that's a pleasure to use.
