Juan Pimentel Ramirez was born in Mexico in 1922. At the age of 12, he was already repairing guitars. He worked in a Paracho guitar factory and opened his shop in Mexico City in 1943, where several relatives joined him. Juan Pimentel Ramirez became internationally renowned and made guitars for Gilberto Puente, Saulo Sedano, and Andrés Segovia. He died around 1999, but Pimentel Guitars continues, run by his sons José Luis & Fernando Pimentel. The old man himself built this guitar. That makes it unique.
This fabulous old classical guitar, built-in 1988 by famed Mexican guitar maker Juan Pimentel, has a great, open, deep sound. It appears it's age, with finish checking and multiple scratches, as you would expect from a guitar that is 36 years old. However, the guitar is fully functional, and nothing compromises its sound, structure, or performance. It comes with the original hand-made case. The top seems to be solid spruce. The back and sides are Indian Rosewood: Cedar neck and ebony fretboard.
Since I play electric guitars, I am open to trades for other high-quality and functional American-made vintage electric guitars, preferably Fender, Gibson, or Gretsch, of equal value. I'm not interested in any other items at this time. Thanks
