An understated appearance and a timeless sound perfectly summarize this reimagined Martin D18. The warm sound of mahogany in combination with an authentic Sitka spruce top supported by 'scalloped' bracing provides an honest, authoritative and clear but also very powerful sound that at the same time matches perfectly with a singer songwriter, but also appeals to many bluegrass guitarists. In short, one of the most versatile class of guitars.
Vintage details such as the open gear tuners and classic style 18 features go hand in hand with a low profile neck to recreate the old bluesy sound of the D18 with an updated chassis. This dreadnought from Martin with a natural finished top gives an iconic look that is timeless and classic, dressing the D18 in a way that this versatile and underrated guitar deserves.
This left-handed Martin D18 from 2019 is in very good condition. The guitar has a small ding on the top, and a touch-up to the paint on the side of the body on the bass side. Furthermore, some air has gotten under the lacquer of the binding in the binding on the shoulder of the top, and a crack in the neck near the headstock has been repaired almost invisibly. However, the guitar is otherwise exceptionally clean and comes with a TFOA passport in a TKL hardshell case.
