2007 Gibson J45 Rose Vine

Background:

This guitar is in mint condition with no flaws whatsoever.  It played beautifully from the moment I received it in Nov 2021 and remains in perfect condition with low action, no discernable play wear on the frets, and the pickguard looks as new. 

As expected, the vine inlay on the fretboard is a venerable work of art crafted by the Gibson Custom Shop luthiers in Bozeman, Montana.  I see 3 types of shell used – variegated abalone/paua (leaves), white mother of pearl (vine), and a yellow iridescent shell (flowers).This guitar also has the rose inlay on the headstock – others have a standard Gibson “crown”. 

The next most impressive and unique feature is the wonderful “Shipwreck Indian Rosewood” on the back.  The grain pattern is stunning and unique – you can really imagine that it was buried underwater for a time.  The side wood is dark and rich with a normal straight grain. It even smells great through the soundhole.

The sunburst top tastefully highlights the spruce that has a 3D grain alternating between vertical lines and a flame effect.  The abalone surrounding the sound hole is a rich golden yellow color that compliments both the top and aged binding very well.  The Madagascar Rosewood used for the fretboard and bridge has distinctive and beautiful grain lines and color.

The aged binding on the top has a herringbone surround detail.  The binding on the back and fretboard edges matches beautifully.  The open gold Waverly tuners are simple and tasteful and in perfect condition.
