For your viewing pleasure is this stellar Ludwig nickel over brass, heavy two piece shell, Professional "All-Metal", 4x14 "Dance Model" snare drum as cataloged by Ludwig in the 1920s. It features 10-lugs, and the Ludwig Pat Pending strainer, which dates the drum between 1918-1925. It's in great condition, and hard to believe it has been around for a century. This drum was acquired from the estate of a drummer for the Chicago Philharmonic where he used it for decades. It is completely original except for modern heads, CANOPUS snare wires, hoops and tension rods. As is the case with nearly all of these, there are a few very light dings/scratches, but this drum has an overall beautiful well cared for look, with just some light nickel wear hear and there. The original Pat Pending strainer operates well, and looks great. There is a slight bend in the tension knob but it holds and is not stripped. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind except for the "light" hole for the original calf skin drums. This is the exact same heavy two piece shell and construction used on the iconic 4x14 Black Beauties of the time, and would be the ultimate addition to any recording studio, stage, or collection. This is the rare 10-lug model. This drum tunes up perfectly and sounds magical. This drum needs to be played and enjoyed for the next hundred years to come. Enjoy!
