Here is a pair of probably the best sounding mic pres I have had the pleasure of using - seriously I’m foolish to sell them.

Totally euphonic and pleasantly colorful. Nice mid range saturation, perfectly open top end with zero harshness, fat low mids sloping into a nicely rounded and tight low end. They make dynamic mics sound expensive.

These have been recapped sparing no expense on capacitor selection: Jupiter Wet electrolytics, Nichion, Vishay, Wima Film, you get the idea. The original film caps that tested good were left in place.

Close serial numbers (1268 and 1276)

One of the pres (serial 1276) has had its output transformer replaced with a vintage Jensen - it is however as close to a perfect match to the original Pikatron transformer as one could hope for. Both are quadfilar wired for a 1:2 ratio and steel core. DC resistance is also very close between the Jensen and Pikatron. The output level between the pres matches within .5db.

Both pres had a couple of damaged traces near the output transformer but those have been repaired (see photos).

Noise level on both is incredibly low although slightly higher on serial number 1276 if I’m splitting hairs. 1276 is still quieter than all of my modern pres.

This listing is for the preamps only! I did build a nice linear regulated 24v power supply to power these while restoring them that I can include at an additional cost.
