The beautiful sinker mahogany is an upgrade and some people believe it has distinct sonic qualities.
About the aging process: I have had several aged authentic Martins, and I firmly believe they are (or are among) the best guitars being built in the world, boutique or otherwise. They are light and resonant, and if you play one back to back with a standard series Martin you will be blown away.
I'm only selling to fund a large non-guitar related expense. I'll entertain reasonable offers, but I can't budge much because it's priced to sell, based on other used D-18 Authentic listings with the aging process.
