The most modern and best-selling Juno of Roland's classic '80s trio, the Juno-106 kept the basic visual aesthetic of its older siblings. Those elements are instantly identifiable: red, blue, and white boxes against the dark gray chassis. They can be a quick way to say "Juno" before you even get to the faders or logo, and in fact, Roland still uses them on new synths to pay homage to its own lineage.
Our Find of the Week goes for something else altogether.
The Nashville-based Reverb seller SynthSpa has fully restored this vintage Juno. Most crucially, the voice chips—which often break with age—are now guaranteed for many years to come. They've also added a Polyphony Meter that shows you what synth voices are activated and allows for some extra filter distortion, when you want it.
But the paintjob may be the real star of the show. Those classic Juno colors have been transformed into a yellow and purple melange: purple boxes and yellow buttons against the yellow body, with cool, handmade aluminum sides at each end. It looks sleek and ready to roll, like it could step off the bench of the 1980s Lakers and have its own magic touch.
