New for 2022, Martin is expanding both its high-quality acoustic-electric SC Series with three new guitar models and its vintage-inspired Modern Deluxe series with seven new model additions.
Designed for ultimate playability and movement, the SC Series models feature thin bodies, sloping bouts, a single-cutaway, low string height, and a deeply contoured heel to give players all of the feel of an electric with acoustic sensibilities. New guitars joining the line are the Martin SC-13E Special and SC-13E Special Burst, as well as a new SC-10E model.
All three new models are equipped with the Sure Align neck system for full access to every fret, as well as a low-profile velocity neck barrel. The SC-13E Special and Special Burst both feature Sitka spruce gloss tops, with backs and sides finished with ziricote fine veneer gloss. Both models have an aperture rosette inlay and an ebony headplate, fingerboard, and bridge, as well as nickel open gear keyhole tuners and skeleton key knobs.
Meanwhile, the more affordable SC-10E features a satin finished Sitka spruce top with koa fine veneer back and sides. The aperture rosette inlay is black and white, and this model also features the ebony fingerboard, bridge, and headplate. The tuners and knobs on the SC-10E are all black.
Martin's Modern Deluxe line of guitars takes the vintage feel and appointments that players have come to love about Martin guitars over generations and cleverly melds them with updated tech and playability features that today's players want from a modern instrument. Now, seven of Martin's famous models—000-18 MD, 00-28 MD, 000-42 MD, D-45 MD, D-42 MD, 0012-28 MD, and 012-28 MD—will all be joining this line.
These models feature Sitka spruce Vintage Tone System tops and a dovetail neck joint, married to a neck with a slightly asymmetrical shape for better playability. Modern touches include Liquidmetal bridge pins and a composite carbon fiber bridge plate to boost volume, while classic appointments like European flamed maple body binding, gold frets, and a headstock torch logo inlaid in pearl are also present.
