It's a topic that every experienced guitarist has an opinion about, but from Marty's perspective, there are a few key things to keep in mind no matter what style of guitar you're interested in playing.
First, you need to decide between a nylon string and steel string. While nylon strings are more comfortable for some beginners, if it's rock or country or other sorts of pop music you're interested in playing, a steel string is the way to go. Next, there's are a variety of different guitar sizes to choose from, from diminutive parlors to massive jumbo styles. Dreadnought acoustics are the most common and are a good choice for most players.
