Video: Caring for Your Acoustic Guitar with Marty Schwartz

Today, in part two of our collaborative series with Marty Schwartz of the Marty Music YouTube channel, we're talking about acoustic guitar care. For part one in this series, click over to this page for Marty's tips on what to consider when buying your first acoustic.

No matter what type of guitar you're playing, there are a few basic maintenance practices every guitarist should work into their routine. For one, it's always a good idea to keep your guitar looking pristine—and a single bottle of guitar polish can last years. With acoustic guitars, humidity control is another essential consideration, and there are a wide range of options out there. Marty specifically recommends a pack-based system, such as those made by Planet Waves.

Also covered in the video above are Marty's recommendation for tuner and nut lubrication, and his prefered method of changing strings. Every guitarist has a different approach to string changing, but no matter how you do it, a tool like this combo string-winder-cutter will save you a lot of headache.
