Video: Sadowsky Bass DI Demo

For over three decades now, Sadowsky instruments have earned a sterling reputation among bass players for their quality and general embrace of new technologies. Their onboard active preamp system remains at the core of what makes a Sadowsky bass a Sadowsky bass.

It's not surprising at all, then, that the New York company has entered the exploding Bass DI market with a standalone unit that brings their celebrated pre to a standalone, stompbox format.

Compared to the Bass DI options we highlighted last year, Sadowsky’s strips down the controls to focus on great tone. This one is relatively light on the knobs but still plenty versatile, with sensitive tone controls and both a preamp out and an XLR out for conventional DI use.

As Jeremy demonstrates in the video, the Sadowsky Bass DI is first and foremost a high–quality preamp that boosts a bass’s tone with plenty of clarity. The two–knob EQ section can add as much thump or bite as you need with highly responsive bass and treble knobs.

If you're just interested in adding the preamp section to your board, Sadowsky offers the preamp section from the DI box as a standalone pedal. It works the same way and sounds just as good.
