Reverb Raises $20,000 for Girls Rock Camp Alliance

Following Successful Auction, World’s Most Popular Music Gear Site Focuses on ‘Reverb Gives’ Initiative

Tuesday, September 25, 2018 — Today, Reverb, the leading online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling music gear, announced that it raised more than $20,000 for the Girls Rock Camp Alliance through its Girls Rock Reverb Charity Auction. Proceeds from the auction—which featured gear, signed memorabilia, and more from artists ranging from Lady Gaga and Hayley Williams to Dolly Parton and Kacey Musgraves—will support more than 100 programs across the globe offering summer rock camps and related music education programming for female, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth.

"The Girls Rock Camp Alliance helps Girls Rock camps and related organizations across the globe stay connected, learn from each other, and ultimately work together toward the shared goal of fighting the barriers that systemic oppression puts on girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth," said Savhanna Wilson, GRCA board member and organizer with Girls Rock Saskatoon in Canada. "The money raised in this auction thanks to Reverb and the incredible artists who donated items will help us continue to support GRCA organizations and their communities across the globe."

Following the auction, Reverb continued its charitable giving by issuing the first round of donations related to its Reverb Gives initiative, which is dedicated to getting music instruments into the hands of students who need them. A portion of every sale made on Reverb goes to Reverb Gives. From there, teachers, instructors, and leaders at selected music programs across the globe are gifted money to purchase instruments they need for their students directly from sellers on Reverb.

Among the first round of grant recipients are Rock to Recovery, a nonprofit founded by Korn’s Wes Geer that uses music therapy to help those who are recovering from addiction, abuse, post-traumatic stress, and more; Music Heals International, an organization committed to bringing music to the children of Haiti and globally to inspire achievement, resilience, and creativity; and Intonation Music, which provides year-round access to instruments, instruction, performance opportunities, and mentorship to youth in the underserved communities of Chicago. According to Intonation’s Mike Simons, the organization "could not operate our programs and serve our students without support of this type."

"Reverb Gives is putting instruments in the hands of the next generation of musicians, many of whom might not have the chance to play music," said Simons, Founder and Executive Director of Intonation, which was able to purchase new keyboards, drum kits, and more thanks to Reverb Gives. "We are grateful to find partners aligned with our mission of providing youth the opportunity to learn, practice, and perform music and know its ability to transform lives."

To date, Reverb Gives has awarded more than $80,000 to nonprofit organizations across the globe, with a goal of giving $500,000 by the end of the year. To learn more about Reverb Gives, visit
