This week's Find of the Week is a boombox of a different breed: it's a FISHER SC-300K stereo music composer system. This 1980s museum piece is a hybrid of a boombox, shortwave radio, tape deck, and a Casio-style synthesizer and drum machine.
Manufactured by the Sanyo-owned hi-fi electronics company sometime in the 1980s, this battery-powered blaster includes some microphone inputs for recording and amplification, as well as a multiband radio and a cassette recorder. The detachable keyboard contains an auto-chord generator, a built-in drum machine, and eight patches (including piano, organ, violin and flute)—though it contains its own outputs, simply strap it on top of the boombox and it'll be ready to record to tape.
The Germany-based seller indicates that while the keyboard, radio and boombox are all fully functional, the tape deck component has not been fully tested—the motor is working but the heads aren't moving. That said, it'll only take a simple repair before you're making lo-fi beats on-the-fly.
