Fender has announced a brand-new addition to its still relatively new instrument family with the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster.
The new model (not to be confused with the mid-2000s Acoustasonic Strat) is an evolution of the marriage between acoustic and electric seen in last year's Acoustasonic Telecaster. Like that model, this new guitar brings together electric pickup tones, natural acoustic resonance, and the digital impulse responses of various acoustic body shapes through Fender's Stringed Instrument Resonance System (SIRS). The range of tonal options include everything from a dreadnought to a dirty electric.
Paired with the five-way tone switch and mod knob are five newly conceived voices with two modes apiece for a wide spread of onboard sounds. Crafted with true Strat tone in mind, the new voices are intended to give the touring guitarist every tone they'd need during a set, without switching between guitars. (Check out Fender's chart below to see the full range of sounds available.)
The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster is available for pre-order now for $1,999.99 USD. Watch our demo to hear it in action, as Joe Shadid plays a composition that utilizes each of the guitar's various pickup settings.
