The past couple of years have seen a flurry of new synths hitting the market that combine the sounds and basic layouts of the classics with the latest in digital convenience and reliability. Earlier this year, we saw a new option from Roland in the form of the SE–02 (built alongside Studio Electronics), which followed other popular entrants like Korg Minilogue and its follow–up, the Monologue.
With the introduction of the Peak, though, Novation is coming to the table with a little more horsepower.
Packing three "New Oxford" oscillators on each of its eight voices (along with 17 digital wavetables), the Peak isn't another entry–level monosynth. This is a full–featured power station with just about every bell and whistle a modern synthesist or sound designer might desire.
As you can see in the video above, the Peak absolutely nails the gamut of classic synth tones with its digital oscillator suite quite aptly covering your Moog, Juno, and Prophet standards. The filter and modulation sections are extremely robust, with a range of reverb, delay, chorus, and distortion effects.
Combined with a flexible digital navigation and preset system and all of the ins–and–outs you need to interface with just about anything, and the Peak delivers a truly best–of–both–worlds approach.
